Erään aiemman VE-vuoden ohjelmistoon kuului kokoomateos, jossa näytettiin lyhytelokuvia Amsterdamin Wet Dreams -elokuvafestivaalilta vuosilta 1970/71. Nyt on vuorossa Wet Dreamsin amerikkalaisen vastinparin virallinen kokoelma, jossa nähdään niin hardcorea kuin vaniljaakin, ajoittain pöhköä mutta usein myös vakavaa ja tyylikästä. Tyylejä ja tekniikoita on monia (jopa kollaasitekniikkaa!) ja ohjaajarivistöstä löytyy ainakin 70-luvun pornojäärä Chuck Vincent (The Appointment: hupia porvarillisen ikävän kustannuksella), New Line Cinema -tuotantoyhtiön perustajajäsen Robert Shaye ja ehkä jopa tuleva Wayne’s World (1992) -ohjaaja Penelope Spheeris. Viimeisin tieto on huhupuhetta, eikä vajaiden ja pseudonyymeillä kirjailtujen tekijälistojen varassa enempää voikaan sanoa. Mutta kuka ikinä kortensa kekoon kantoikaan: toivomme, että he ovat ylpeitä osallisuudestaan tähän aikakapseliin, jonka myötä pääsemme matkaamaan kokeellisuuden aikakauteen!

Some editions ago, we screened a compilation film featuring shorts presented at the Wet Dreams Film Festival in Amsterdam 1970/71. Now it’s time for the official compilation of its transatlantic foil, featuring a smattering of erotica sometimes hardcore and sometimes vanilla, often goofy and yet surprisingly sober, done in a vast variety of styles (including an unexpected stab at collage filmmaking!) by an array of directors including 70s porn stalwart Chuck Vincent (The Appointment: fun with bourgeois ennui), ’80s indie powerhouse New Line Cinema co-founder Robert Shaye, and, as rumor has it, future Wayne’s World (1992) auteuress Penelope Spheeris. The latter is hearsay, and since the credits are scarce and addled with pseudonyms, hearsay is sometimes all we have. But whoever contributed to this: We hope they’re proud that they did their bit for this time capsule that beams us back into an era where experimentation was a way of life!
